Our Groundwater modelling team conduct numerical groundwater flow modelling to support impact assessments and water management decisions for a diverse range of clients and markets/sectors, including mining, renewable projects, and infrastructure.

Here’s what you can expect in your new role with EMM:
As a Groundwater Modeller, you’ll be responsible for conducting numerical groundwater flow modelling to support impact assessments and water management decisions for a diverse range of clients and markets/sectors, including mining, renewable projects, and infrastructure. Here’s what you’ll be focused on:
- Working with clients and regulators to scope and plan groundwater modelling projects
- Designing and building fit for purpose groundwater models that are aligned with industry standards and EMM’s internal quality processes.
- Conducting numerical groundwater flow modelling to support groundwater impact assessments for a diverse range of clients, projects and markets, including mining, energy, and infrastructure.
- Utilising specialist software such as Algomesh, Groundwater Vistas and Python to build and run MODFLOW groundwater models.
- Undertaking sophisticated history-matching and uncertainty analysis using PEST++IES
- Collaborating with a range of teams and experts across hydrogeology, surface water, ecology, and planning and approvals to provide comprehensive water management solutions to unique project challenges.
Here’s what you’ll bring to have impact:
- A relevant Tertiary GeoScience qualification, or equivalent.
- 5-10 years of professional experience in groundwater modelling, ideally in a consulting environment, or in an environment that requires delivering models to scope, schedule and budget.
- Strong data management and conceptualisation skills.
- Technical understanding of hydrogeology, groundwater modelling and uncertainty workflows, with proficiency in relevant software packages (ideally MODFLOW or FEFLOW, the PEST and PEST++ suite, Leapfrog, Python, etc.).
- Familiarity with modelling assessments as per the Australian Groundwater Modelling Guidelines and GMDSI recommendations.
- Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently within a team, contributing to diverse projects and tasks.
