The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our Finance team in a hands-on capacity, while also assisting in broader business administration tasks.

This is a temporary opportunity for a period of 4-6 months, with the potential to evolve to a permanent position.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with regulatory returns (BAS and Payroll Tax Return)
  • Assist with process payroll and payment of superannuation in Employment Hero
  • Preparation and submission of required information to external accountants for the FBT and income tax return and other requirements in relation to company financials
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • Assist the Senior Accountant with general ledger responsibilities, including reconciliations and manual journals
  • Assist with managing the end of month functions
  • Inventory valuation and assessment
  • Assist with daily accounts receivable processes – invoicing, collections, cash allocations, bank reconciliations, receivable queries
  • Ad-hoc projects assigned by senior management from time to time
  • Understanding of all computer modules necessary to perform tasks
  • Processing of accounts payable invoices, checking statements and processing payments in Xero
  • Close liaison with external accountants
  • Assist with management of fixed assets
  • Other duties as required

 

The candidate would be required to have:

  • 3 years practical experience within a finance team of an SME
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Bookkeeping
  • NSW Police employment check prior to commencement
  • Experience with Xero is essential
  • Experience with Employment Hero would be highly valued
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are essential
  • Strong numerical and a high level of attention to detail are critical to success in this role
  • Ability to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Be flexible, self-motivated and energetic and able to work closely within a small team

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education – Formal qualifications in Bookkeeping or a related discipline
  • Experience – Atleast 3 years’ experience within a small to medium businesses finance team
  • Technical Skills – Strong proficiency in Xero (essential) and intermediate Excel skills; strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, payroll processing and BAS/tax compliance.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail – Strong numerical skills with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Work Ethic & Approach – Highly organised, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Team Player – Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to step into broader operational tasks as required.
  • Other Requirements – NSW Police employment check and valid right to work in Australia.
