As part of the globally recognised Dorsett brand, we are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our Kitchen Brigade. About the Role:
As a Commis Chef at Dorsett Gold Coast, you’ll support the day-to-day preparation and production of food across the Executive Lounge and Jin Bar. Working alongside our experienced chefs, you’ll help deliver consistent, high-quality dishes across à la carte service, functions and events.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your culinary skills while working in a supportive and fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce food to established recipes and standards
- Assist with food preparation across the Executive Lounge and Jin Bar
- Support senior chefs during service, functions and events
- Ensure consistency, quality and presentation of all dishes
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
- Correctly store, label and rotate stock to minimise spoilage
- Assist with stock control and kitchen organisation
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen
- Work collaboratively with the Kitchen Brigade and wider food and beverage team
- Support menu planning, recipe development and seasonal offerings as required.
What We Are Looking For:
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or currently working towards this qualification
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment
- Experience working on grill and pan sections is preferred
- Understanding of food safety, HACCP and WHS requirements
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in food
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
