Description

Disability Support Worker

Location: Warragul Hours: Varying shifts across mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends

Disability Connect Victoria is seeking Disability Support Workers to support clients in the Warragul area.

This role is suited to someone who is confident, reliable and genuinely committed to supporting people with disability to live safely, build independence and stay connected with their community.

About the role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide direct support to clients with a range of support needs, including behaviours of concern and mental health conditions.

Your day may include:

  • Supporting clients with daily living tasks
  • Assisting with personal care
  • Supporting clients to prepare meals and maintain their home environment
  • Providing transport and support for community access
  • Encouraging independence, choice and routine
  • Following behaviour support strategies and care plans
  • Supporting clients to manage emotional regulation, anxiety or distress
  • Promoting safety, dignity and respect at all times
  • Documenting shift notes and reporting any concerns to the relevant team leader

This role requires patience, good communication skills and the ability to stay calm and professional when supporting clients with complex needs.

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Mental Health or similar, preferred
  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in disability, mental health or community support, preferred
  • Experience supporting clients with behaviours of concern, preferred
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • Valid Victorian Driver Licence
  • Access to a reliable, insured vehicle
  • Ability to follow support plans, behaviour support plans and workplace procedures
