Position Summary

The Part-Time Quran Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Quran education in accordance with the curriculum and teaching standards of Madrasa Tul Madina. The role involves teaching students of various ages in a supportive Islamic environment while fostering correct Quran recitation, Tajweed, and good Islamic character.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Quran recitation (Nazirah) with proper Tajweed.
  • Plan and conduct engaging Quran lessons appropriate to students’ learning levels.
  • Monitor, assess, and maintain students’ attendance and progress records.
  • Encourage students to develop good Islamic manners (Akhlaq), discipline, and respect.
  • Provide guidance and constructive feedback to students and, where appropriate, parents.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support Madrasa Tul Madina activities, teacher meetings, and professional development sessions as required.
  • Comply with all organisational policies and procedures, including Child Safeguarding, Work Health and Safety (WHS), and other applicable requirements.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience teaching the Holy Quran.
  • Sound knowledge of Quran recitation and Tajweed.
  • Ability to teach and engage children effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to Islamic values.
  • Follower of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah creed in accordance with the Ash’ari or Maturidi theological tradition.
  • Commitment to teaching and upholding authentic Sunni Islamic beliefs and practices.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement.

Desirable

  • Hafiz-e-Quran (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience teaching in a Madrasa or Islamic educational setting.
  • Knowledge of basic Islamic studies and Islamic etiquette.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and fellow teachers.

Working Hours

This is a part-time position. Working hours will be scheduled on weekdays, evenings, and/or weekends in accordance with the operational requirements of Madrasa Tul Madina.
