Counsellor Educator (1x full-time & 1 x part-time)

Cyrenian House provides a wide range of high-quality treatment services that make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by alcohol and other drugs.  

About the Role:

We are currently seeking two Counsellor Educators to join our Non-Residential Services Team based in Perth, at Fitzgerald Street.

The Counsellor Educator will provide proficient, culturally secure counselling, assessment, education, and support to consumers, their families, and the local community. The Counsellor Educator will possess a sound level of clinical knowledge and skills, together with well-established work practices that exercise initiative and sound judgment.  

Positions available: (please state in your application which position you wish to apply for)

1 x Maximum Term Contract to December 2027, working full-time, 76 hours per fortnight.  

1 x Maximum Term Contract to June 2028, working part-time, 45 hours per fortnight.

Positions are level 4/5 $96,295 – $113,725 per annum (pro rata).

To be appointed / successful in this role, you will require the following key qualifications, skills and experience:

• A degree in social, behavioural or health sciences or equivalent experience in the alcohol and drug sector.
• Demonstrated and well-developed assessment and counselling skills.
• Experience in facilitating therapeutic groups.
• Working within a multi-disciplinary case management team.
• Knowledge of alcohol and other drug issues, drugs of concern and other medications.
• Experience in working with consumers from diverse backgrounds and different cultural groups.
• Demonstrated and well developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
• Experience in delivering education and training programs to other providers and community groups.
• Experience in working as part of a team.
• Current satisfactory Police Clearance, First Aid Certificate, Driver’s Licence and Full Work Rights.

Desirable:  

• Sound knowledge of the community services sector including Mental Health, Child Protection and Justice.
