About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Rail Coordinator to join our Operations team based at our Sandgate depot.

Reporting to the Operations Team Leader, you will play a critical role in coordinating daily rail freight operations across our national network. Working in a fast-paced 24/7 operational environment, you will ensure freight movements are planned and executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with customer requirements and operational priorities.

This is a hands-on operational role requiring excellent planning, communication and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily rail freight scheduling, allocation and operational planning to ensure safe, efficient and reliable service delivery.
  • Monitor rail operations, fleet utilisation, train movements and vessel receivals, implementing recovery plans to optimise network performance and meet customer requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, rail operators, transport providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, freight management systems and reporting, while investigating incidents, resolving operational issues and communicating timely updates to stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in rail operations, transport scheduling, logistics coordination or freight allocation.
  • Strong planning, scheduling and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • High attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate operational records and reporting.
  • Flexibility to participate in an after-hours and weekend roster.
