About the Role
We are seeking a Female Disability Support Worker to provide dedicated 1:1 care to a participant with complex medical and behavioural support needs. This role requires someone who is patient, calm, safety-focused, and experienced in complex care environments.
Medical Conditions & Support Needs:
- Huntington’s Disease
- Dementia
- High Fall risk
- Schizophrenia
- Faecal and urinary incontinence
- Meal preparation and supervision in line with a modified diet and mealtime management plan
- Manual handling and personalised care
Behavioural Considerations:
- Occasional verbal aggression
- Refusal of personal care or medication at times
- Smoker requiring supervision due to risk of self-injury
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care & Medication Support: Assist with hygiene, continence care, and medication adherence using positive reinforcement
- Meal Preparation & Monitoring: Prepare meals according to dietary requirements and ensure safe mealtime practices
- Compassionate 1:1 Support: Build trust and provide respectful, person-centred care
- Promoting Independence: Encourage autonomy and engagement in meaningful activities
- Health Monitoring & Documentation: Observe, record, and report changes in physical or emotional wellbeing
Shift Availability:
- Must be able to do sleepover shifts (2:00 PM – 6:00 AM, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
What We’re Looking For:
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful
- Calm and resilient when managing challenging behaviours
- Experienced in complex care and behavioural support
- Safety-focused, especially around falls risk and smoking supervision
- Strong communicator with a consistent and professional approach
Essential Requirements:
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Aged Care, or equivalent
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid Australian driver’s licence
- Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Proven experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours and disabilities
Highly Desirable:
- Experience supporting individuals with Huntington’s Disease, dementia, and incontinence care
