Description

Seeking upbeat, humorous, and confident individuals with a passion for building community connections and military history!

I am a middle-aged man who has recently moved to South Australia and am hoping to connect with my local community & see more of Adelaide. I have a keen interest in history, specifically military history, aviation, building scale models, cooking global food, and am seeking support to build community connections, as well as the confidence to engage with my community independently.

I’m an honest communicator with a great sense of humour and would love to connect with my local RSL, explore volunteering at the museum, or connect with similar interest groups in my area.

What I need from you is: empathy, reliability, honesty & an ability to provide support in a way that builds my confidence, capacity & independence.

The Role:

As a support Worker, you’ll play a crucial role in helping me get around and self-direct my dedicated support team. You will be supporting me both at home and out in my community, what I’d really like is for you to support me to make my own connections, so an understanding of ‘being the bridge to community’ will go a long way. I value a positive attitude, patience, understanding and listening skills. Prior experience supporting someone with a visual impairment is a plus but not mandatory.

For this role, you would be joining a small team (totalling three, including you). My team collaborate, communicate, and work together to support me, so it’s important to me that you understand this.

You will also be supported by your Community Living Project Facilitator, who will guide you with ongoing coaching & mentoring, with the person being supported central to that process.

This role commences at level 2.1 casual rate of $43.23 per hour, with the below shifts

Hours:

• Tuesdays: 1:00pm – 6:00pm

• Wednesdays: 4:00pm – 10:00pm

• Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle

• A current NDIS Worker Check

• First Aid Certificate

Company Overview

For more than 30 years, the Community Living Project has worked in close partnership with families to build opportunities for a good life for their family member who is living with a disability. Community Living Project focuses on building inclusion. To us, this means that everyone matters and all people are welcomed, included and contributing to community life. We work with one person at a time to craft individualised support in a way that ensures each person (and their family) has as much control as possible over all aspects of their life. We believe all people should have the opportunity to pursue a unique lifestyle that is personally meaningful, relevant and typically intertwined in their community. We will not offer you a generic ‘program’, ‘vacancy’ or ‘place’. Instead, we will help you to craft your participation and inclusion in the community.
