Reporting to the Head of Legal & Governance, you’ll play a key role in supporting legal, governance and compliance activities across the business, helping to manage risk, strengthen regulatory compliance, and contribute to best-practice legal outcomes.

🔷 Purpose of the Role 

Reporting to the Head of Legal & Governance, the Junior Lawyer will support the delivery of practical legal, governance and compliance assistance across CBN. This role will contribute to best-practice legal outcomes, effective risk management and strong regulatory compliance, while working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers as required. 

✨ What You’ll Do 

In this role, you will support a broad range of legal, governance and compliance activities, including: 

  • Reviewing, drafting and administering commercial agreements, including NDAs, supplier agreements and service contracts.  
  • Conducting legal research and preparing clear summaries, advice notes and briefing papers for internal stakeholders.  
  • Supporting day-to-day legal matters and assisting with the coordination of external legal advisers.  
  • Maintaining governance registers, policies and procedures.  
  • Assisting with Board and Committee papers, agendas and company secretarial activities.  
  • Supporting compliance with AFSL and other regulatory obligations relevant to CBN.  
  • Assisting with dispute and claims matters, including liaising with insurers and external counsel where required.  
  • Identifying opportunities to improve templates, precedents and Legal & Governance processes.  

💡 What You’ll Bring 

You’ll be practical, organised and eager to continue building your legal career in a supportive in-house environment. You’ll also bring: 

  • A law degree and post-graduate legal experience, either in-house or otherwise.  
  • Exposure to commercial contracts, legal research, policies, procedures and registers.  
  • Experience supporting a legal, governance, company secretarial or compliance function.  
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear advice notes and briefing papers.  
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing agreements, registers, policies and records.  
  • Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to escalate legal, governance or compliance matters appropriately.  
  • Confidence working with internal stakeholders and external advisers.  
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, AFSL compliance or another regulated environment would be highly regarded.
