Join Climate Friendly as a Portfolio Partnerships Manager in this 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover role, helping deliver high-integrity carbon farming and sustainable land management projects across regional Queensland and New South Wales. This relationship-focused role is ideal for someone with experience in agriculture, environmental science, natural resource management, project management or client partnerships who wants to work directly with land managers and partners to create measurable outcomes. You’ll combine stakeholder engagement, practical project coordination and carbon market knowledge to support meaningful climate action in Australia’s land sector.
About the opportunity
As Portfolio Partnerships Manager, you will support the delivery and management of carbon farming projects within Climate Friendly’s Portfolio Partnerships team. The role will initially focus on the rangelands of Queensland and New South Wales and will include regular travel to regional properties and partner locations.
You will work closely with land managers, clients, strategic partners and internal teams to keep projects on track, support regulatory requirements, identify opportunities under relevant carbon methodologies and help partners achieve strong environmental and commercial outcomes. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building trust, translating complex information into practical actions and contributing to meaningful climate and land sector outcomes.
In this role, you will:
- Build and maintain positive, productive relationships with Portfolio Partner clients, land managers and other stakeholders.
- Travel to client sites and regional properties to support project delivery and assess project management milestones.
- Develop and maintain Land Management Strategies across portfolio partner projects.
- Support clients with project tracking, progress updates and practical solutions to project challenges.
- Assess existing and new projects for opportunities under relevant carbon project methodologies.
- Gather and organise evidence of land management activities to support farm management plans, project documentation, audits and registrations.
- Coordinate project registrations and audits with support from internal technical, operational, reporting and compliance teams.
- Maintain accurate records in customer relationship management and project management systems.
- Complete basic or intermediate QGIS mapping tasks where needed, or develop capability in this area with support.
- Gain and maintain Authorised Representative status under Climate Friendly’s Australian Financial Services Licence, including completing required training.
About you
You may bring experience from carbon farming, agriculture, natural resource management, environmental science, land management, customer engagement or another related field. We are open to different career pathways and value both formal qualifications and relevant lived or practical experience.
You will likely enjoy this role if you:
- Build strong, respectful relationships with clients, land managers and stakeholders.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with people from different backgrounds and areas of expertise.
- Can organise information, manage competing priorities and follow through on commitments.
- Are comfortable working in regional or remote settings and can travel regularly as part of the role.
- Have an interest in conservation, climate change, sustainable land management and public good outcomes.
- Are willing to learn new systems, tools and regulatory requirements.
- Can work collaboratively with internal teams to solve problems and deliver quality outcomes.
Experience with the Emissions Reduction Fund, carbon farming, project audits, farm management planning, service agreements, CRM systems, project management tools or QGIS would be helpful, but not all of these are essential. If you meet some, but not all, of the criteria and are excited by the role, we encourage you to apply.
Climate Friendly encourages people from different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from different cultural backgrounds and people with disabilities.
