The Opportunity
Chorus is building its digital capability from the inside out, and this role sits at the
centre of that work. You will be the lead developer of two flagship products:
the Chorus Local Portal — a unified digital workspace for our frontline teams —
and Choree, an AI-native knowledge management chatbot that gives staff instant,
conversational access to guides, policies, and operational knowledge. These are
not background systems; they are the primary tools our people will use every
day.
Beyond these products, you will work as part of an emerging digital team — alongside a Data
Scientist, Solution Architects, a Technical BA, and a Product and Design Lead —
contributing to a broader Digital Transformation Program that spans a new data
platform, enterprise system replacement, API development, and custom mobile and
desktop applications. You will not own all of this; you will contribute
collaboratively, supported by a select group of trusted digital partners, and
grow into new areas — including AI — as the program evolves.
About Chorus
Chorus is a Western Australian not-for-profit providing aged care, disability, and mental
health services across Perth and regional WA. We operate through a model of
local ownership and shared accountability — decisions made as close as possible
to the people they affect, by teams that are embedded in their communities.
Our Digital Enabling Platform is the foundation of our next chapter: AI-native,
automation-first, and built on Microsoft Azure. Power Platform is central to
how we reduce administrative burden and free our people to focus on genuine,
relational care.
What You Will Be Doing
Lead Developer — Local Portal and Choree
- Own the design and development of the Chorus Local Portal — a Power Platform-based
workspace that gives frontline staff a single place to access schedules,
customer information, guides, learning, and team communications.
- Lead the build of Choree, Chorus’s AI-native knowledge management chatbot — a
conversational tool that lets staff ask questions and get direct, contextual
answers drawn from Chorus’s knowledge base, rather than searching through
documents or waiting for a colleague.
Power Platform Development
- Design, build, and maintain Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, Power Pages, Co-Pilot
Studio AI agents and Dataverse solutions that reduce manual effort and improve
how information flows across the organisation.
- Support integration between Power Platform and core business systems — including care
management, payroll, HR, and safety platforms — ensuring data is captured once
and used everywhere it’s needed.
- Manage solution packaging, environment management, and application lifecycle across development, test, and production
Contributing to the Digital Transformation Program
- Work alongside Solution Architects, a Data Scientist, Technical BA, and Product and
Design Lead on workstreams including data platform development, enterprise
system replacement, API build-out, and custom application development.
- Bring your Power Platform expertise to bear where it adds most value, and contribute
across team boundaries as the program grows — including into AI, data, and
custom app development.
- Work with business stakeholders to understand real needs, translate them into
practical solutions, and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical
audiences.
Platform Governance and Capability Growth
- Establish and maintain Power Platform governance practices — including environment
strategy, solution standards, naming conventions, security roles, and data loss
prevention policies — ensuring the platform scales safely as adoption grows.
- Define and document development standards and patterns that give the broader team —
and trusted digital partners — a consistent, quality baseline to build from.
- Champion best practice across the digital team: peer review, reusable components,
documentation, and a build-it-once approach that reduces duplication and
technical debt.
- Help grow Chorus’s internal digital capability by mentoring colleagues, uplifting
Power Platform confidence across the organisation, and contributing to a
culture where technology is understood and owned from within.
What You Will Bring
You are a strong Power Platform practitioner ready to grow. You bring depth in the
Microsoft ecosystem and genuine enthusiasm for stretching into AI and adjacent
disciplines alongside a collaborative team.
Essential
- 3–5 years hands-on experience building custom products and solutions with Power
Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Co-Pilot Studio and Dataverse.
- Experience with Microsoft Dataverse configuration, Dynamics 365 integration, and Power
Platform governance and lifecycle management (Azure
DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Power Platform Build Tools).[RV8]
- Experience designing and deploying automated workflows, integrations, and user-facing
applications across web and mobile.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability — able to translate complex business
needs into reliable, scalable solutions.
- Good understanding of Microsoft 365 and its integration with Power Platform.
- Effective communicator and active listener, comfortable translating complex technical
architecture into user-friendly language for frontline, non-technical staff.
- Collaborative working style, open to learning and a genuine growth mindset — willing to step
into new areas including AI as the role evolves.
- Comfort with working in a decentralised, self-organising system and capacity to self-direct
and organise your own work.
- Ability to develop detailed solution designs for digital products — translating
business and user requirements into well-structured technical specifications,
architecture diagrams, and integration designs that a development team can
build from.
Desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Licensing models and NFP discounts/ grants
- Exposure to Azure AI services — Azure OpenAI, AI Search, or Bot Service — particularly
for building intelligent, knowledge-grounded applications.
- Familiarity with Azure services (Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Entra ID, API Management) and
third-party system integration.
- Experience developing custom mobile and desktop applications within the Azure ecosystem — including front-end development using frameworks such as React, React Native,
or Flutter, and back-end development using Azure Functions, .NET, or Node.js.
- Experience designing and implementing back-end data and integration flows — including API
development, data pipelines, and event-driven architectures using Azure
services such as API Management, Service Bus, or Data Factory.
- Experience with Power BI and data visualisation.
- Microsoft Power Platform certifications (PL-900 through PL-400) and relevant tertiary
qualifications well regarded.
- Background in aged care, disability, mental health, or community services — or a genuine
pull toward purpose-driven organisations.
You do not need to be an expert in every one of these areas, as long as you can
demonstrate that you are versatile and ready to extend your skills we would
love to hear from you.
What We Offer
- A genuinely different kind of organisation with space for leadership, creativity
and ownership.
- Work that is deeply connected to meaning and community impact.
- The opportunity to help shape the future of digital and innovation at Chorus.
- Competitive salary with salary packaging benefits.
