About you

You’re someone who can run a finance function of a small organisation autonomously, comfortable managing competing priorities, and exercising sound judgement on ambiguous problems. . You have: 

• strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting skills
• practical experience applying established governance, risk and compliance frameworks in a not-for-profit environment
• excellent organisational capability, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• experience running or substantially supporting the finance function of a small organisation with limited day-to-day supervision
• Experience preparing for and coordinating an external audit.
• proficient with Xero and advanced spreadsheet skills for financial analysis and modelling.
• tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field; CA or CPA qualification desirable.

You communicate financial and risk information clearly and confidently to non-specialists, Leadership and Board members and you build effective relationships across teams, providing responsive, practical support to fellow team members.

About the role

The Finance and Operations Manager owns Super Consumers Australia’s finance cycle, and maintains the risk, compliance and operational systems, running these functions day to day.

Operating within a shared services arrangement, this role is the primary point of accountability for SCA’s budget and financial reporting, and manages SCA’s side of its outsourced relationships. 

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, you’ll work with the SCA Leadership Team, and the Company Secretary on financial, governance and risk reporting.

You will also:

• Own SCA’s end-to-end financial management, and preparing the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
• Prepare financial reports, summaries and dashboards and lead the year-end process.
• Liaise with our finance supplier, the external bookkeeper and the auditor to ensure accurate and compliant financial practice.
• Manage the financial aspects of funding agreements , and maintain the financial delegations and authorisation framework.
• Maintain SCA’s risk register, facilitate periodic risk reviews with the Leadership Team, and draft risk reporting for the Board.
• Work with the Company Secretary on Board and committee operations, and manage insurance, incident and breach reporting, and privacy and data governance.
• Lead procurement, contract management and supplier relationships
• Manage the HR and IT services, systems and licences provided to SCA.
• Identify and implement practical improvements to SCA’s operational systems and processes.
