CatholicCare Central Queensland is seeking a creative and motivated Communications Officer to help tell our story, strengthen our brand, and engage with our communities across Central Queensland.
Working within our Communications team, you’ll create engaging digital and print content, support marketing campaigns, attend community events, and ensure our messaging reflects the mission, vision and values of CatholicCare.
About the Role
The Communications Officer contributes to the delivery of CatholicCare’s communications, marketing and brand activities by creating engaging communications, marketing and digital content across a range of digital and traditional communication channels.
The Communications Officer works to ensure that all communication activities undertaken align with the organisation’s mission, vision, values, goals and objectives.
Primary role objectives for this position include:
- Executing communication activities and tasks across a range of mediums such as web, print and social media to maintain well-informed, connected and engaged stakeholders, both externally and internally;
- Collaborating and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to gather information, conduct research, facilitate interviews and create effective and engaging communication content that promotes CatholicCare activities, services, values and updates, both internally and externally;
- Attending internal and external events and activities across the Diocese to provide on-site communications support with photography, videography, and social media coverage; and
Ensuring that consistency and adherence to CatholicCare brand guidelines and visual brand identity is maintained across the organisation.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication, Digital Marketing or a related qualification (or equivalent experience with a willingness to obtain a qualification).
- Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
Desirable:
- Experience in a communications, marketing, public relations or journalism role,
including content creation, stakeholder engagement and digital communications.
In addition to the above, you will need to demonstrate:
- High level of capability in written and verbal communication, including the ability to prepare clear, engaging and audience-appropriate communication materials across digital and traditional communication channels;
- High level of capability in planning, organising and coordinating multiple communication activities, managing competing priorities and delivering work within agreed timeframes;
- High level of stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability, including the ability to establish productive working relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
- Sound level of capability in developing written, photographic and video content that promotes CatholicCare’s services, values and strategic objectives;
- Sound level of capability in applying organisational brand standards and producing accurate, consistent and high-quality communication materials with a high attention to detail;
- Sound level of capability in the use of contemporary communication technologies and platforms, including Microsoft 365, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, website content management systems and social media platforms;
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, sound judgement and problem-solving skills when responding to changing priorities, communication issues and stakeholder requests;
- Demonstrated ability to quickly develop and maintain a sound understanding of CatholicCare’s mission, services, organisational structure and stakeholder groups to support effective communication outcomes; and
- Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct and the mission, vision and values of CatholicCare Central Queensland.
