Looking to build real-world finance experience while you’re studying?

 

Carriageworks is seeking a Junior Finance Assistant to join our Finance team on a short-term contract to provide leave cover. This is a great opportunity for a university student studying Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business or a related discipline to gain hands-on experience in a busy and dynamic arts and cultural organisation.

 

Working alongside experienced finance professionals, you’ll receive training and support while developing practical skills across accounts payable, accounts receivable and general finance administration.

Fixed Term Contract (4-5 days a week 2 November – 4 December)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Accounts Payable

  • Assist with processing supplier invoices and payments.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation.
  • Enter financial data into accounting systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Help with payment runs and account reconciliations.
  • Respond to routine invoice and payment queries.

     

    Accounts Receivable

  • Assist with preparing and issuing customer invoices.
  • Update debtor reports and records.
  • Record incoming payments and support debt collection activities.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate financial journals.

     

    Finance Administration

  • Support the Finance team with day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems.
  • Provide basic support to staff with finance-related system queries.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and customer-focused team environment.

PREFERRED CRITERIA 

  • Currently studying Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
  • Interested in developing a career in finance.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and paying attention to detail.
  • Well organised and able to follow processes accurately.
  • A confident communicator with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Previous exposure to bookkeeping or accounts payable/receivable is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with Business Central or other accounting software is a bonus, but training will be provided.
