About us

Cancer Hub brings together Canteen, Camp Quality and Redkite to provide a simpler way for families impacted by cancer to access practical and emotional support when they need it. Online Support is one of the services offered by Cancer Hub, delivering evidence-based counselling and psychosocial support through phone and video appointments, as well as facilitating online peer support and group programs.

We are seeking a Camp Quality Parent & Carer Counsellor to provide digital counselling and psychosocial support primarily to parents and carers of children aged 0-12 years who are impacted by cancer. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a growing national service while working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

About the role

As the Camp Quality Parent & Carer Counsellor, you will:

• Deliver evidence-based digital counselling, psychosocial assessments and therapeutic interventions to parents and carers impacted by cancer. You would specialise in supporting parents and carers with children 0-12 years, but also work with parents and carers of young people up to 25 years.
• Support clients with grief, loss, parenting challenges, family adjustment, care coordination and access to appropriate supports and services.
• Facilitate digital group programs that combine psychoeducation, therapeutic support and peer connection.
• Contribute to the moderation and development of Canteen Connect, Cancer Hub’s online peer support community.
• Collaborate across Cancer Hub, Canteen, Camp Quality and Redkite to improve service delivery and outcomes for young people and families.

About you

You will bring:

• Qualifications in psychology, counselling or social work, with eligibility for registration, accreditation or membership with AHPRA, AASW, ACA, PACFA, APS or an equivalent professional body.
• A minimum of two years’ experience delivering evidence-based counselling interventions, ideally including telehealth practice.
• Demonstrated experience working with families, including knowledge of child development, parenting, family systems and family-inclusive practice.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and work collaboratively across teams.
• A warm, compassionate and client-centred approach, combined with sound clinical judgement and the ability to work autonomously.
• Grief and bereavement support, group facilitation, risk assessment and safety planning, and working within multidisciplinary or remote teams (desirable).

Employment Expectations
