About the Role
Are you passionate about creating healthier communities? Join our team and help lead evidence-based skin cancer prevention initiatives that make a real difference across Western Australia.
We are seeking an experience public health professional to coordinate and deliver our successful SunSmart program that promotes sun safety with a particular focus on young people, workplaces and outdoor settings. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a well-established program while identifying new opportunities to grow its reach and impact.
No two days are the same. You’ll enjoy a high level of autonomy, working collaboratively with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders to deliver meaningful health promotion initiatives that help prevent skin cancer across the Western Australian community.
Based in Subiaco, this position is full time contract until 30 June 2029.
What you’ll be doing:
• Coordinate skin cancer prevention projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation.
• Advocate for sun-safe policies and environments in workplaces and public spaces.
• Develop, implement and evaluate health promotion resources and initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with government, education, community and workplace stakeholders.
• Coordinate events and activities that strengthen community engagement and program impact.
• Contribute to the ongoing growth, quality and sustainability of the SunSmart program.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about prevention and thrives in a role where they can make a genuine difference. You are someone who enjoys building relationships, takes initiative and is motivated by achieving positive community outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will have the following key attributes:
• A tertiary qualification in health, education, or relevant discipline
• Minimum three years’ industry experience in health promotion, local government, education or workplace health and safety
• Experience in the developing and implementing health promotion programs and healthy public policy initiatives
• Strong project management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to analyse research and apply evidence-based approaches to program planning and evaluation
• Knowledge of cancer prevention and public health issues
• Proficient Microsoft Office Suite and other databases
• A capacity to critically analyse health, behavioural/social research
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
• A positive approach to the workplace
