About the Role

Are you passionate about creating healthier communities and making a difference? We’re looking for a Projects Coordinator to help improve skin cancer prevention policy and practice in sport and recreation settings in Western Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in sport, health promotion and community engagement. You’ll build relationships with stakeholders across the sector, from clubs and community groups to researchers, local government and peak sporting organisations, while coordinating programs, supporting research and managing projects and resources.

Building on the SunSmart’s team already well-established Improve Your Long Game (IYLG) program for golf clubs, you’ll help drive its next stage of growth, explore opportunities, and bring fresh ideas to expand its reach and impact.

Based in Subiaco, this is a permanent part-time position. (0.6 FTE).

What you’ll be doing:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the sport and recreation sector, community partners and internal teams.
• Engage with the sector to understand their needs and identify opportunities to adopt SunSmart practices.
• Coordinate skin cancer prevention projects, including planning, promotion, implementation, evaluation and reporting.
• Adapt and deliver practical, evidence-based skin cancer prevention messages and resources.
• Support all levels – from peak bodies to community sporting clubs – to implement effective prevention programs, policies and healthy behaviours.

About you

• To be successful in this role you will have the following key attributes:
• A tertiary qualification in health promotion, public health or a related field, with 3+ years’ experience
• Experience building strong stakeholder and community relationships
• Knowledge of cancer prevention and health promotion
• A genuine passion for community engagement
• Experience in project management and/or program evaluation experience
• Experience managing budgets and reporting
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
• Experience or knowledge of policy development
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to use research and evidence to guide your work
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
• A positive approach to the workplace
