Cancer Care Associates (CCA) is seeking an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Consultant to lead and strengthen infection prevention and control practices across our growing network of cancer care services in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.
This is a permanent part-time opportunity (0.5 FTE), with flexibility around working days and hours to suit the successful candidate. Location is flexible to be based at one of our CCA centres.
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, this is an exciting opportunity to influence patient safety and clinical excellence at an organisational level. You’ll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement and continuously improve our Infection Prevention and Control Program while supporting compliance with national standards and accreditation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
As our IPC Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will:
- Lead and coordinate CCA’s Infection Prevention and Control Program across multiple sites.
- Provide expert advice on infection prevention, clinical risk and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate surveillance, hand hygiene monitoring, audits and organisational reporting.
- Lead outbreak investigations, exposure management and infection-related incident responses.
- Develop and deliver staff education, competency programs and workforce compliance initiatives.
- Review and maintain IPC policies, procedures and clinical resources aligned with current evidence and national standards.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives that strengthen patient safety and clinical outcomes.
- Partner with nursing, medical, pharmacy, quality and operational leaders to embed consistent IPC practices across the organisation.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current unrestricted registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- At least five years post-registration nursing experience.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Infection Prevention and Control (Graduate Certificate or higher).
- Demonstrated experience leading IPC programs, audits, surveillance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of NSQHS Standard 3, healthcare-associated infection surveillance, outbreak management and Australian IPC guidelines.
- Outstanding communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work autonomously while building strong relationships across multiple clinical sites.
Highly regarded:
- ACIPC credentialling or membership.
- Experience in oncology, haematology or ambulatory healthcare.
- Experience supporting accreditation surveys.
- Experience implementing electronic surveillance or audit systems.
