Canberra Southern Cross Club Stellar Canberra | Full-time | Executive-level opportunity
Lead our people. Grow our membership. Shape our Health and Wellness business:
Canberra Southern Cross Club is seeking a commercially focused and people-centred leader to take on the role of General Manager Health and Wellness. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the financial, operational, membership and development performance of our Health and Wellness business.
The opportunity:
Based at Stellar Canberra, your portfolio will include Stellar Swim, Stellar Women’s Gym, Stellar Group Exercise and the CSCC Anytime Fitness Gyms. You will bring together strategic direction, commercial discipline and a commitment to member experience to grow participation, strengthen retention and identify new opportunities for the business.
Leading through the Stellar Aquatics Operations and Performance Manager and the Health and Wellness Gyms Operations Manager, you will build team capability and accountability. You will also work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, venue managers, tenants, franchise representatives and operational partners to deliver consistent standards across the portfolio.
What you will lead:
- Membership and revenue growth: Partner with the General Manager Marketing to develop and deliver marketing and promotional activity, using membership and revenue insights to improve acquisition, retention and business performance.
- Commercial performance: Deliver agreed revenue and expense budgets, manage costs and contracts, and identify sustainable growth opportunities in the Health and Wellness sector.
- Operational excellence and partnerships: Embed consistent service, operational and franchise standards while maintaining effective relationships with tenants, Anytime Australia and operational partners.
- People and culture: Communicate a clear direction, develop your leaders and teams, recognise strong performance and address underperformance promptly and fairly.
- Safety, risk and continuous improvement: Lead a proactive approach to workplace health and safety, public safety, compliance and risk management, protecting our members, people and business.
About you:
You are a strategic thinker who translates plans into action. You combine sound commercial judgement with the ability to engage people, navigate change and deliver results across competing priorities.
You will bring:
- A minimum of five years’ management experience in the Health and Wellness sector, ideally within multi-site operations and a membership-based organisation.
- Tertiary qualifications in business management or equivalent, together with strong sector-specific business management and administration knowledge.
- The ability to lead change, manage major business projects or systems, and deliver strategic priorities within agreed timelines.
- Strong people and resource management skills, with a commitment to developing others and building collaborative teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, supported by analytical thinking, sound decision-making and the ability to identify and manage risk.
Experience in franchise operations, fitness, aquatics, wellness or related service environments will be highly regarded, as will experience managing operational partners, tenant relationships, membership systems or payment partners.
Lead the CSCC way:
At Canberra Southern Cross Club, we care for our community, our people and our environment. We strive for service excellence, act with integrity and respect, and foster a collaborative, compassionate and inclusive culture. These values guide how we lead, make decisions and work together.
This role offers the opportunity to bring those values to life while leading the performance and development of our Health and Wellness business.
