About the Role

This is more than a leadership role. It’s an opportunity to drive meaningful change in the lives of women, children and families experiencing family violence across South West Victoria.

As our Team Leader – Family Violence Women & Children’s Programs, you will lead a highly skilled team delivering specialist family violence responses, therapeutic interventions and safety-focused support across a suite of programs including Family Violence Counselling and Support, Family Safety Contact, Mother Contact, ARISE and HEART.

Working at the intersection of leadership, clinical practice and service innovation, you will provide day-to-day operational oversight, practice guidance and supervision while fostering a culture of excellence, reflection and continuous improvement. You will support practitioners navigating complex family violence situations, ensuring responses are trauma-informed, culturally safe, child-centred and grounded in best practice frameworks including MARAM, Safe and Together and Information Sharing legislation.

This role is ideal for an experienced family violence practitioner and people leader who is passionate about strengthening outcomes for women and children, building workforce capability and driving collaborative, integrated responses across the service system. You’ll work closely with internal teams, partner agencies and community stakeholders to enhance safety, reduce risk and create pathways to healing and long-term wellbeing.  While the primary focus is leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team, the role also maintains a connection to practice through participation in direct client work as required, ensuring leadership decisions remain informed by the lived realities and emerging needs of the women, children and families we support. You’ll work closely with internal teams, partner agencies and community stakeholders to enhance safety, reduce risk and create pathways to healing and long-term wellbeing.

At Brophy, we believe strong leaders create strong outcomes. You’ll have the opportunity to influence practice, shape service delivery, support staff growth and contribute to our broader vision of safer families, stronger communities and a future free from violence.

If you’re a values-driven leader who thrives in complex environments, inspires others through compassionate leadership and is committed to creating lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Do your skills include:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the theoretical frameworks underpinning family violence, including gendered and feminist analysis, human rights, social justice, and the impacts of trauma on women, children and families.
  • Proven ability to deliver trauma‑informed intervention and therapeutic support for women and children victim survivors, and young people who use violence, with a strong understanding of child developmental needs, complex trauma, and the challenges clients experience during periods of relationship change.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Family Violence Service System, MARAM risk assessment and safety planning, relevant legislation and information sharing schemes, case management practice, and the ability to apply policy and procedures in complex practice environments.
  • Experience working with women, children and young people during periods of relationship change (new relationships, pregnancy, separation, divorce, retirement) and the ability to build rapport with diverse client groups, including those who may be difficult to engage.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to support complex decision‑making, facilitate a collaborative team approach and maintain effective relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.

Are your credentials:

  • A relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualification appropriate to the requirements of the role, together with substantial relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of qualifications, experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the requirements of the position.
  • Experience delivering therapeutic programs to women and children.
  • Men’s Behaviour Change Group Program Facilitator, Caring Dad’s Facilitator and/or working towards attaining the Graduate Certificate in Family Violence – desirable.
