How you can play a part

The purpose of the Student Support Officer is to provide mentoring and support services to our First Nations students in years 7-12 through the successful delivery of our Beyond the Broncos Program.

This program focuses on engagement, retention and academic progress through:

  • Providing culturally safe mentoring and strengths-based support to participants
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders including school staff, parents, carers, indigenous community, NGOs and government agencies
  • Updating and maintaining student profiles and records
  • Providing students with career pathway support including; mentoring, work experience, industry engagement, info sessions, self-awareness etc.
  • Implementing, monitoring and reviewing attendance, behaviour, effort, retention and attainment strategies
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required

This role is part-time working 3-5 days per week.

To be considered

To be considered for this opportunity you will have

  • Previous experience working with First Nations young people and an understanding of local community groups
  • A relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Education, Youth or Community Service
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comprehensive administration and reporting skills
  • A strong sense of respect for confidentiality involving participants and team member
