How you can play a part
Reporting to the First Nations Education Program Manager, the Education & Career Transition Pathways Lead will provide culturally supportive career guidance, mentoring and pathway support to First Nations students in Years 10 to 12 participating in the Beyond the Broncos Program.
Through strong partnerships with schools, employers, training organisations, tertiary institutions and community stakeholders, this role will help young people explore their aspirations and successfully transition into further education, training or employment.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers, tertiary institutions, registered training organisations and other pathway providers
- Provide students with practical information, mentoring and guidance to support informed career and subject-selection decisions
- Oversee work experience, workplace orientation and university orientation opportunities
- Develop career tools, workshops and mentoring content that equip students to confidently plan their next steps
- Build the capability of Senior Student Support Officers through training, resources and ongoing career mentoring support
- Lead the development and delivery of career and leadership initiatives, including the Future Voices Leadership Program, Leadership Summit and Country to Career Camp
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, services and community members
- Maintain accurate records, collect program data and support timely reporting against contractual and organisational requirements.
To be considered
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with local communities
- Experience developing and maintaining trusted relationships with schools, employers, training providers, tertiary institutions, government agencies and community organisations
- Experience supporting students into education, training, traineeship or employment pathways
- Strong knowledge of the local labour market, employer expectations and the education, employment and social challenges experienced by disadvantaged young people
- Excellent communication, presentation, coaching, influencing and relationship-building skills
- The ability to develop engaging career and mentoring content and confidently facilitate workshops or capability sessions
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail, with demonstrated reporting, administration and record-keeping capability
- Confidence using Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- A qualification in business, career development or employment services will be highly regarded.
