About the Role:

The Senior Finance Officer plays a key role in supporting Biripi’s financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, processing and reviewing transactions, completing reconciliations, and assisting with budget monitoring. The position supports compliance with relevant legislation, organisational policies, funding requirements, audit processes, and internal financial controls.

The key objectives of the role include:

  • Understand payroll compliance, legislation & award interpretation.
  • Ensure the organisation’s taxation and legal obligations are met in accordance with our regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Provide senior level advice to the finance officers
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure efficient and effective financial management.
  • Monitor and analyse financial data to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.
  • In consultation with the CFO and executive leadership, prepare and execute departmental budgets to ensure achievement of strategic objectives, whilst maintain effective cost controls.
  • Oversee cash flow management, including monitoring cash reserves and ensuring sufficient funds are available for operations.
  • Monitor financial delegations and financial approvals to ensure that approval limits are exercised appropriately.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications (or near completed) in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or similar discipline
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and other statutory requirement
  • Experience interpreting Awards, employment contracts, and payroll legislation.
  • Experience working within Not-For-Profit Organisation.
  • Sound experience in apply for and managing government funding
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team
  • High level of interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Analysis and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands
  • Ability to build relationships with all levels of the organisation
  • High level of computer literacy, sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
  • Ability to hold all relevant security clearance including Police Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Current Valid Driver’s Licence.
