Description

This is an early-career analyst role for someone with strong quantitative ability and programming skills who wants to build capability in investment analytics, reporting and attribution within a middle office environment.

Based in Sydney, you will work closely with stakeholders across the business to support investment data, reporting and analysis needs. The role is designed to develop over time: initially supporting recurring BAU reporting and analytical processes under guidance, then taking ownership of defined reporting and analysis tasks as capability grows, and later contributing to automation, standardisation and process uplift.

As the role matures, you will also help identify and support the development of new reporting opportunities, analytical outputs and process enhancements that improve the quality, consistency and scalability of investment insights across the business.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and ongoing improvement of investment reports, with a focus on accuracy, consistency and timely delivery.
  • Learn and document existing BAU reporting and analytical processes to improve repeatability, resilience and team coverage.
  • Progressively take ownership of defined reporting, analysis and data tasks as knowledge and capability develop.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining analytical tools, datasets and reporting outputs used across the business.
  • Contribute to automation and process improvement using Python, SQL and centralised data sources. Identify data quality issues, manual process inefficiencies and opportunities to improve reporting workflows.
  • Support analysis relating to portfolio, fund and investment data for internal stakeholders.
  • Work with stakeholders across the business to understand reporting requirements and deliver clear, consistent outputs.
  • Contribute to testing, documentation and maintenance of reporting and analytics processes.
  • Provide analytical support for ad hoc reporting and data requests under guidance from the broader team.
  • Over time, support the development of new reporting outputs, analytical processes and investment insight capabilities as business needs evolve.

Key Skills and Experience

Must-haves

  • Degree in Quantitative Finance, Data, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
  • Strong Python skills for data analysis, transformation or automation.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and working with structured datasets.
  • Demonstrated quantitative problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate analysis clearly and work effectively with stakeholders.
  • Foundational knowledge of finance or investments, with the aptitude to build deeper capability in attribution and related analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to financial services, asset management or investment operations.
  • Familiarity with portfolio reporting, attribution or risk concepts.
  • Experience improving manual reporting processes or spreadsheet-based workflows.
  • Exposure to data visualisation or dashboarding tools.
