Description

The Design Director is required to lead, inspire, and elevate our design team. This role blends hands-on creative leadership with project and individual oversight, ensuring that every piece of design work we deliver is not only beautiful, but also purposeful, consistent, and aligned with brand strategy and vision of the creative director.

As the Creative Lead, you’ll oversee the development of design solutions across all touchpoints from brand and campaigns to product and digital experiences. You’ll mentor a multidisciplinary team, advocate for design excellence, and collaborate closely with stakeholders across marketing, product, and leadership.

Key skills and experience

  • 7+ years’ experience, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role within a creative agency or in-house studio
  • Proven track record of leading and growing multidisciplinary design teams, with demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and develop creative talent
  • Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end brand and campaign work across digital, social, motion, print, and product experiences
  • Deep expertise in brand strategy and the ability to translate business objectives into compelling creative direction
  • Experience owning and evolving a brand design system at an enterprise or institutional level
  • Expertise in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects), with the confidence to guide production decisions across all formats
  • Experience leading design across digital channels including web, email, social, and content, with a strong understanding of UX/UI principles
  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with marketing, product, and executive stakeholders, including presenting and defending creative direction at senior levels
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, set team capacity and workflow processes, and deliver high-quality outcomes at scale
  • Experience with AI-assisted creative tools and a clear strategic view of how AI can be leveraged to improve studio output and efficiency. Including Claude, OpenAI, Higgsfield.
  • Strong conceptual thinking with executional rigour, able to zoom out on strategy and zoom in on craft
  • High computer literacy including Microsoft Office software
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or a similarly regulated, complex-product environment is a plus
  • 3D design experience (e.g. Blender) is a plus

  • Brand Stewardship: Ensure brand consistency and integrity across all materials, channels, and experiences.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with teams in marketing, product, content, and development to bring ideas to life.
  • Execution Excellence: Oversee the design process from concept to final delivery, ensuring high-quality, on-brand execution, staying hands-on as needed.
  • Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and tools, bringing fresh ideas and design approaches to the table.
