Role Type
Description
At Best Practice Software, our vision is communities connected with care. We’re achieving this through our mission to build a culture people love, where:
- we value customers,
- we work together for success,
- we are accountable for our actions,
- we innovate for the future, and
- we celebrate diversity and inclusion.
If you share our vision and values, please consider this exciting career opportunity to join our growing team in Bundaberg or Brisbane, Queensland.
At Best Practice Software, our vision is communities connected with care. Our Product Design team is who turns that vision into the screens and workflows that clinicians and practice staff rely on every day — and we’re looking for a Product Owner, Design to help lead that work.
You’ll own the design of a set of our core product areas: talking directly to the customers who use our software, shaping validated designs before a single line of code is written, and ensuring what we ship is safe, usable, and genuinely useful in a clinical setting.
Your team, your role
You’ll sit within the Product Design stream, working alongside UX Designers, Clinical and Practice Management Advisors, Architecture and delivery teams to take ideas from a customer conversation through to a design that’s ready to build. It’s not a supervisory role, but it is a highly connected one — you’ll be the person in the room translating what customers need into what gets designed and delivered next.
You’re unique, and we value that.
As a Product Owner – Design, we’ll call on your unique talents, skills, expertise, and experience to:
- Run customer interviews, discovery workshops and co-design sessions to uncover real needs and turn them into validated problem statements.
- Own the design of new features from concept through to requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria that are ready for delivery.
- Rapid-prototype and test new ideas for technical feasibility, customer and clinical value, and commercial viability, before full development is committed.
- Design screens and workflows that meet our UX principles, accessibility standards and clinical safety requirements.
- Bring an AI-forward mindset — spotting where AI can meaningfully improve our products and our customers’ workflows, and using AI tools yourself to speed up research and requirements work.
- Act as the go-to subject matter expert through delivery, working closely with developers and the Product Owner (Delivery) to keep designs on track.
- Validate what’s shipped with real customers after release, closing the loop on their feedback.
We believe our ideal applicant will demonstrate the following attributes:
Essential
- Experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst or similar role delivering technology-centric projects.
- A track record of running customer interviews, co-design sessions or discovery workshops to inform product decisions.
- Experience translating customer and clinical insight into documented designs, wireframes or prototypes.
- Confidence in documenting business requirements, use cases and acceptance criteria.
- Strong communication, analytical thinking and organisational skills, with a genuine track record of meeting deadlines.
- A working understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience using and implementing AI technology.
- A post-secondary qualification (a tertiary qualification in a related discipline is highly regarded).
