About Us
We are seeking an experienced Tip Inspector/Spotter to join our team at our Unanderra Recycling Facility.
The Spotter is responsible for controlling and directing traffic within the site, identifying, and classifying incoming loads into the site and tipping areas. They are required to follow company policies and procedures regarding the identification of non-conforming material that may be inadvertently delivered to site. The spotter (waste classifier) role is fundamental in the communication between customers, weighbridge staff and operators within the site, regarding the classification of products being tipped.
Role Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe flow of traffic within the tip area and to and from weighbridges using effective communication with customer, suppliers and staff; and
- Ensuring customers tip in a safe manner in all weather conditions.
- Directs and educates customers to provide correct disposal information, appropriate disposal areas and proper methods of disposal.
- Provide precision, stacking directions for private and commercial vehicles in close proximity to each other, into the working face of the site and transfer station for disposal purposes.
- Conduct quality control measure on various wastes coming into the site and transfer station to identify hazardous waste and its removal before it enters the waste stream.
- Inspecting raw feed, to classify the waste and to identify non-acceptable contaminants, including asbestos and putrescible waste.
- Classifying of various waste materials; and
- Reporting waste classification to the weighbridge in a clear and precise manner, detailing bin size where necessary.
- Coordinate the stoppage of various activities within the Site and transfer station to pull hazardous waste materials from the waste streams.
Qualifications and experience
- Asbestos awareness experience would be highly regarded.
- Excellent communication skills both with Customers, suppliers, and staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven knowledge of Asbestos Identification (Training to be conducted if required).
- Commercial understanding of waste identification and waste streams.
- Ability to cope with repetitive tasks.
- Good eye for detail and the ability to be vigilant.
- Self-motivated and ability to take initiative.
- Physically fit, comfortable working outside in all weathers; and
- Mature minded and self-confident in decision making.
