Summary:
The Mechanical Operations Technicians for the Carpentaria Pilot Project (CPP) will support the transition from late construction phase and commissioning into ongoing safe, reliable operations of Beetaloo Energy’s Carpentaria Gas Plant and associated field facilities. The role will be in direct support for operational readiness, late-stage construction and pre-commissioning oversight, and ultimately will provide onsite accountability for day-to-day plant production operations, well site operations and mechanical maintenance.
The position requires a high-level of Mechanical expertise in gas compression packages, along with a good understanding of oil and gas process systems.
You will be required to uphold Beetaloo Energy systems, procedures, preventative maintenance schedules through a Computerised Maintenance Management System (“CMMS”), undertake breakdown and corrective maintenance, and supporting performance through commissioning, start-up, and ongoing steady state operations.
The position will be based on site at the Carpentaria Pilot Project which is located approximately 200km East from Daly Waters along the Carpentaria Highway on a 2-week Back-to-Back roster. with handover and travel to and from Darwin supported by the company.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all mechanical procedures are current and up to date, Help in the establishment and review of process operations systems, SOPs, safety frameworks, and CMMS maintenance programs during the pre-construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and into first gas
- Provide mechanical leadership and support late-stage construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up of the Carpentaria Gas Plant and associated wellsite and pipeline facilities.
- Supporting the Operations Leadership team to abide by the NT petroleum and WHS requirements, Beetaloo Energy’s Environmental Management Plan (EMP), Health Safety Environmental Management Systems (HSEMS), attending and being involved in safety meetings, Emergency Response drills, acting as permit holder or work party within the Permit to Work system, developing and reviewing isolation plans and apply Isolation procedures to practise.
- Show a high-level of leadership in planned and unplanned Mechanical maintenance activities, including compliance checks, support minor E&I work under the guidance from the E&I technician, undertaking process plant operations and well site operations as required.
- In conjunction with the Project team, Operational management and Commissioning team, help manage the ramp-up and transition from commissioning to stable gas production.
- In conjunction with the Operational management team, you will take the lead in in the development off preventative maintenance systems, the management of maintenance systems and asset integrity systems (within the CMMS), coordinate inspections, critical function inspections/tests and repairs. The position will require a high-level broadminded approach to maintenance given our remoteness
- Maintain physical control and storage of routine spare parts and consumables as well as critical spares on site in conjunction with Beetaloo Energy inventory management system.
- Delivering daily production reporting, spare part procurement and storage, incident, and compliance reporting; liaising with the Operations Supervisor, meeting forecast and daily production nominations
- Accommodation will be supplied onsite consistent with industry standard en-suite rooms, these will be shared on a back-to-back basis. Catering will be shared amongst the team on a rostered or preferred method; there will be allowances during work hours for preparation of meals and cleaning
- Providing regular production status updates to the Operations Supervisor.
- Attend and be involved with prestart toolbox meetings, maintenance schedule meetings and safety meetings.
- Accommodation will be supplied onsite consistent with industry standard en-suite rooms, these will be shared on a back-to-back basis. Catering will be shared amongst the team on a rostered or preferred method; there will be allowances during work hours for preparation of meals and cleaning.

Qualifications:
- Extensive (10+ years) upstream oil and gas mechanical operations experience with upstream natural gas compression production plant operations
- Trade qualifications as a mechanic, diesel fitter, or similar
- Hands-on experience in daily gas plant operations, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Good communication and computer skills
- Strong knowledge of maintenance, asset integrity.
- Remote operations experience (FIFO/DIDO) with resilience and adaptability in challenging conditions.
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within a relevant or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to industry regulations.
