We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our small, dynamic finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. This is a broad, hands-on role covering the full finance function, from day-to-day transactional processing through to month-end close, reconciliations, compliance, and management reporting support.

This role is not siloed. You will be the backbone of our finance operations, helping ensure suppliers are paid, customers are followed up, payroll is supported, accounts are reconciled, and financial data is accurate and timely. You will also contribute to reporting, compliance, inventory analysis, cashflow support and process improvement, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop breadth across the finance function within a manufacturing environment.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Banking

  • Process supplier invoices, payments, remittances and inter-account transfers
  • Manage accounts receivable, credit control and overdue customer follow-up
  • Maintain accurate creditor and debtor records in the accounting system

Payroll & Compliance Support

  • Assist with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations
  • Prepare payroll tax returns with the support of external accountant and ensure timely lodgement
  • Extract and prepare data for BAS lodgement in coordination with external accountants
  • Support external audit, tax compliance and regulatory reporting processes

Month-End Close & Reconciliations

  • Support and coordinate the month-end close process in Reckon under the guidance of the Finance Manager
  • Ensure data integrity with ERP and inventory management system
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, capex schedules and supporting documentation

Inventory, COGS & Manufacturing Support

  • Assist with inventory reconciliations between Fishbowl and Reckon
  • Support COGS, gross margin and stock variance analysis
  • Investigate inventory movements, costing issues and manufacturing-related variances
  • Provide financial support for production, operations and management reporting requirements

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and distribute daily finance reports to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Support the Finance Manager with monthly management reporting inputs, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow monitoring

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies in finance workflows
  • Support system improvement projects, including Reckon, Fishbowl and future ERP integration
  • Assist in improving reporting automation, data accuracy and finance controls

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related field
  • Studying or completed CPA / CA, (Preferred, but not essential)
  • 2–4 years’ experience in a similar accounting role
  • Strong experience with full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
  • Demonstrated experience with bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Reckon, MYOB, NetSuite or similar
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on attitude with willingness to support both transactional and reporting tasks

Desirable

  • Experience in a manufacturing, timber or inventory-intensive environment
  • Familiarity with Fishbowl or similar inventory / ERP systems
  • Experience with inventory reconciliations, COGS and margin analysis
  • Experience preparing BAS workpapers and supporting external tax compliance
  • Exposure to payroll, payroll tax and superannuation compliance
