Delivery Driver – Bayside Plasterboard – Position Description

Position Title: Delivery Driver

Employment Type: Full-Time, Monday to Friday

Reporting To: Branch Manager / Logistics Manager

Locations:

  • Brisbane (Morningside)
  • Gold Coast (Carrara)
  • Northside (Caboolture)

Pay Rate:

  • $30 per hour + overtime (when available) + leave entitlements
  • Higher rate available for drivers experienced in plasterboard delivery

Position Purpose:

The Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient and professional delivery of plasterboard and related building products to Bayside Plasterboard’s trade customers.

This position plays a vital role in maintaining customer satisfaction by ensuring deliveries are completed accurately, safely and on time while upholding Bayside Plasterboard’s standards of professionalism, teamwork and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Delivery and Customer Service:

  • Deliver plasterboard and associated products to residential and commercial construction sites.
  • Ensure delivery accuracy and customer satisfaction on each job.
  • Represent Bayside Plasterboard in a professional manner with courteous, positive communication on-site.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers through reliability and service quality.

2. Loading, Unloading, and Manual Handling:

  • Safely load and secure products for delivery in accordance with load restraint regulations.
  • Work as part of a two-person team (driver and offsider) to unload plasterboard and materials at delivery sites.
  • Carry products from the truck to the designated site area, often involving manual lifting of heavy items.
  • Follow all manual handling procedures to minimise risk and maintain safety.

3. Vehicle and Equipment Care:

  • Complete daily vehicle safety checks and report maintenance issues.
  • Keep vehicles clean, organised, and compliant with company and road safety standards.
  • Operate vehicles responsibly, adhering to all road rules and fatigue management regulations.

4. Safety and Compliance:

  • Comply with Bayside Plasterboard’s Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) policies and site safety requirements.
  • Use correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Report any incidents, hazards, or near misses promptly to the Branch or Logistics Manager.
  • Support a positive safety culture by participating in safety briefings and toolbox talks.

5. Teamwork and Communication:

  • Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, and dispatch staff to coordinate efficient delivery runs.
  • Communicate clearly regarding delivery progress, issues, or delays.
  • Assist with warehouse tasks as required during quieter delivery periods.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Deliveries completed safely and on schedule.
  • Accuracy of delivered materials and documentation.
  • Positive customer feedback and minimal delivery complaints.
  • Compliance with WHS procedures and incident reporting.
  • Vehicle condition and cleanliness maintained to company standard.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential:

  • Current MR or HR driver’s licence.
  • White Card (Construction Induction).
  • Good physical fitness and ability to handle repetitive lifting safely.
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in plasterboard or building material delivery.
  • Forklift licence (LF).
  • Knowledge of local delivery routes and construction site procedures.

Work Environment:

  • Predominantly outdoors, delivering to active construction sites.
  • Regular lifting, bending, and carrying of heavy materials.
  • Team-based work environment (driver + offsider).
  • Monday to Friday operation; occasional overtime may be available.
