We’re seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to join our Northern Research Team based on the outskirts of Toowoomba. This is a hands-on role with genuine variety, offering exposure to breeding, variety evaluation, seed production and agronomic activities across our northern research program.

 

About the Role

Working closely with our Head of R&D and Northern Breeding Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality on-farm research, plant breeding and development outcomes. You’ll be involved in the day-to-day operation of our research programs and contribute to projects that have a real impact on Australian agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

  • General agricultural research activities including sowing, planting, observations, assessments, fertilising, spraying, harvesting and seed cleaning and treatment
  • General farm maintenance, including site presentation, gardening, infrastructure and machinery maintenance schedules and repairs
  • Trial management activities undertaken, trial data collected in accordance with protocols and in line with overall research plans and timeframes.

 

About You

You are a proactive, reliable and energetic individual who enjoys practical work and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes. You thrive working both independently and as part of a team and have a strong attention to detail.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Agricultural Science or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated understanding of agricultural practices
  • Experience operating farm machinery and agricultural equipment
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Competent computer skills, particularly for data entry and record keeping
  • A current driver’s licence and the ability to travel between sites
  • Full working rights within Australia
