Kitchen Hand | Daintree Rainforest, QLD
About the Role
Silky Oaks Lodge is seeking a Kitchen Hand to support our kitchen team in delivering an exceptional dining experience in the heart of the Daintree Rainforest.
In this role, you will keep the kitchen running smoothly behind the scenes, maintaining cleanliness, organisation and hygiene standards while assisting the chefs with basic food preparation. It is a hands on role that plays an important part in every plate that leaves the pass.
Accommodation is not provided for this role, so you will need to be living locally or able to arrange your own accommodation in the Mossman or Port Douglas area.
Key responsibilities include:
- Washing and maintaining kitchenware, equipment and service items
- Keeping all kitchen areas clean, organised and compliant with food safety standards
- Assisting chefs with basic food preparation as required
- Receiving and storing deliveries correctly
- Managing waste and recycling in line with lodge procedures
- Supporting the kitchen team during service to ensure smooth operations
- Following all workplace health and safety requirements
About You
You are a reliable and hardworking team member who takes pride in a clean, well run kitchen and enjoys being part of a busy team.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Hand or Steward, ideally in a hotel, lodge or restaurant setting
- A strong understanding of cleanliness and food safety standards
- A positive attitude and willingness to support wherever needed
- Good physical fitness and the ability to be on your feet for long periods
- Ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
- Own accommodation or the ability to arrange it locally
- Current Australian working rights
