About AWA
The Australian Water Association is a dynamic and inclusive organisation at the forefront of the
water sector. The Australian Water Association connects people, businesses and governments
creating a sustainable water future. Through our local, national and international network of
5,000+ individual and business members, we share information and opportunities, and connect
to inspire positive change. Our work spans membership, events, education, advocacy, publications and digital knowledge services, supported by a collaborative national team.
The opportunity
We are looking for a curious and organised Marketing Coordinator to help deliver campaigns across email, social media, websites and other digital channels. You will work on a varied mix of events, membership and sector initiatives while developing your skills across campaign delivery, CRM, paid media and reporting.
This is a hands-on role suited to an early-career marketer who is ready to take ownership of their work. You will use established templates and campaign frameworks, with support and direction from specialists across digital marketing, communications, content and design.
What you will do
- Coordinate and deliver established marketing campaigns, including campaigns for AWA events and member initiatives.
- Build, check, schedule and send email campaigns and newsletters through HubSpot.
- Write and adapt clear content for email, social media and website channels.
- Schedule and publish organic social content across channels including LinkedIn and Meta.
- Make routine website updates and maintain campaign pages using the CMS.
- Build marketing lists, forms, links and tracking using agreed criteria and processes.
- Set up and monitor straightforward paid social activity with guidance from the Digital Marketing Specialist.
- Coordinate briefs, inputs, approvals and deadlines with colleagues and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain the shared marketing schedule and flag timing conflicts or delivery risks early.
- Review campaign results, apply agreed improvements and help make repeatable processes more efficient.
- Use approved AI tools to support routine marketing work while checking accuracy, quality and brand alignment.
What you will bring
- Some practical marketing, communications or campaign coordination experience, supported by relevant study or equivalent experience.
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage several deadlines and priorities.
- Good attention to detail, particularly when checking public-facing content, links, dates and audience lists.
- Clear written communication and the ability to adapt content for different audiences.
- Confidence working with stakeholders, asking questions and clarifying incomplete briefs.
- A proactive approach, good judgement and the ability to work independently once a task is clear.
- Comfort using digital tools and learning new platforms and processes.
- Basic confidence with campaign data and an interest in using results to improve future activity.
- Curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to keep learning and improving.
Experience that would be useful
You do not need to have used every platform we work with. Experience in any of the following would be helpful:
- HubSpot or another CRM, email marketing or marketing automation platform;
- a website content management system;
- social media scheduling or basic paid social advertising;
- analytics or reporting tools such as GA4;
- professional use of generative AI tools; or
- events, associations, membership organisations or another stakeholder-focused environment.
How the team works
The Marketing Coordinator owns the day-to-day delivery of established campaigns and routine channel activity. Specialist team members provide frameworks, standards and guidance for areas such as digital strategy, complex optimisation, communications and brand. We work collaboratively, communicate risks early and focus on practical, evidence-based improvements.
What success looks like
- Campaigns are delivered accurately and on time.
- Stakeholders receive clear updates and know what is needed from them.
- Routine email, social and website activity is well organised and quality checked.
- Results and feedback are used to improve future activity.
- The role holder grows in confidence, capability and ownership over time.
Responsibilities may evolve in consultation with the position holder as AWA priorities, systems and ways of working develop.
