Description

Team Lead – Organising

ANMF Industrial Union of Workers Perth Perth, WA | Full-time |

About the opportunity

This is a rare chance to shape the future of organising at the ANMF Industrial Union of Workers Perth — the union representing nurses, midwives, and personal care workers across Western Australia.

We’re building for growth. The Team Lead – Organising is a planned leadership role designed to sit at the heart of our organising stream as our membership and team expand. If you’re a skilled organiser ready to step into a coaching and leadership role — and you want to do it in an organisation that takes its values seriously — we want to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead a team of Organisers and Organising Industrial Officers, providing the day-to-day direction, coaching, and operational structure that enables high-quality, member-led workplace organising.

Your core focus areas:

  • Organising practice leadership — keeping your team’s work grounded in genuine organising principles: delegate leadership, collective action, and member power
  • Coaching and capability building — regular, structured coaching that develops confidence and skill across your team, not dependency on you
  • Team management — workflow coordination, leave, performance conversations, PAD reviews, and onboarding of new staff
  • Campaign coordination — translating strategy into practical plans, monitoring progress, and surfacing emerging opportunities to the Manager
  • Collaboration — working closely with Industrial Officers, the IR Strategy team, and the Campaigns & Engagement team to make sure the pieces fit together

This role leads organising practice. It does not take on individual industrial advice or member representation work — that sits with our Industrial Officers.

Who we’re looking for

You’ll need:

  • Genuine, demonstrated experience in organising or workplace mobilisation
  • A strong understanding of organising principles — what it looks like in practice, and why it matters
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and hold people accountable in a fair and consistent way
  • Experience in performance conversations and team coordination
  • A current driver’s licence

It’ll help if you have:

  • Previous supervisory experience in a union or member-based organisation
  • Knowledge of health, aged care, or public sector workplaces

What we offer

  • Competitive Salary
  • Increment progression based on demonstrated capability — clear, fair, and documented
  • A values-led workplace.
  • The chance to build something — this role is part of planned architecture for a growing team, and you’ll help define what good looks like
