About the Role
As the Industry Engagement Adviser – Automotive, you’ll play
a key role in connecting industry, government, training providers, and other
stakeholders to ensure Australia’s automotive workforce has the skills and
capability needed for the future.
Working within AUSMASA’s Industry Partnerships &
Stewardship team, you’ll build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships,
facilitate industry consultation activities, and contribute valuable industry
intelligence that informs workforce planning, training package development, and
skills priorities.
You’ll work across a broad range of initiatives, supporting
advisory groups, consultation activities, workforce planning projects, and
stakeholder engagement programs that influence national skills outcomes within
the automotive sector.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys stakeholder
engagement, relationship management, workforce development, and working across
diverse industry groups to drive meaningful outcomes.
This is a fixed-term opportunity through to June 2028.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build
and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry associations,
unions, training providers, and other key automotive stakeholders.
- Support
industry consultation and validation activities relating to training
package development, qualifications, and skill sets.
- Facilitate
stakeholder engagement activities, workshops, meetings, advisory groups,
and consultation forums.
- Provide
secretariat and coordination support to Strategic Workforce Advisory
Panels (SWAPs), Industry Working Groups, and other stakeholder forums.
- Gather,
analyse, and communicate industry intelligence, workforce trends, and
stakeholder insights to inform organisational priorities and workforce
planning activities.
- Contribute
to the development of AUSMASA’s annual Workforce Plan and associated
skills priorities.
- Promote
VET pathways, apprenticeships, and careers within the automotive sector.
- Support
membership growth and stakeholder engagement initiatives in partnership
with internal teams.
- Maintain
stakeholder records and engagement data within Borealis and other
organisational systems.
- Prepare
reports, briefings, consultation outcomes, and stakeholder communications.
- Coordinate
stakeholder engagement events, forums, workshops, and industry activities.
Interstate travel is required.
Who You Are
You’re a relationship-focused professional who enjoys
engaging with people, building partnerships, and bringing stakeholders together
to achieve common goals.
You have a strong understanding of industry and workforce
challenges and enjoy translating stakeholder feedback into practical insights
and meaningful outcomes.
You’ll bring:
- Experience
in stakeholder engagement, industry liaison, workforce development,
business development, or a related field.
- Strong
relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge
of Australia’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) system.
- Experience
facilitating meetings, workshops, consultations, or stakeholder forums.
- Strong
written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and
stakeholder communications.
- Ability
to analyse information and identify emerging industry trends,
opportunities, and workforce challenges.
- Strong
organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and
competing deadlines.
- Experience
using CRM or stakeholder management systems.
Even Better If You Also Have
- Experience
working within the automotive industry.
- An
automotive trade qualification or industry background.
- Experience
contributing to workforce planning, training package development, or
qualification reviews.
- Understanding
of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
- Existing
networks across automotive employers, industry associations, unions,
training providers, or government stakeholders.
- Experience
using Borealis or similar stakeholder management platforms.
