The Australian Dental Council

The Australian Dental Council (ADC) is seeking applications from a dental practitioner who has successfully passed the ADC examinations within the last two years and would like to contribute to the future of dental assessment in Australia.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute the perspective of a recent candidate while supporting the quality, fairness and effectiveness of ADC assessment processes. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Committee for one term of three years.

About the Assessment Committee

The Assessment Committee is a standing committee of the ADC that makes decisions and provides recommendations to the ADC Board of Directors on matters relating to assessment and examination processes. The Committee plays a key role in overseeing the assessment of overseas qualified dental practitioners seeking registration in Australia and ensuring assessment processes remain valid, reliable and defensible.

Committee members contribute to:

  • monitoring the performance of ADC examinations
  • reviewing examination procedures and outcomes
  • considering reports from review panels and working parties
  • providing advice and recommendations to the ADC Board on assessment-related matters.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • have successfully passed the ADC examinations within the last two years
  • be a registered dental practitioner in Australia
  • demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism and integrity
  • have the ability to contribute constructively to discussions and decision-making
  • demonstrate an interest in maintaining and improving the quality of dental assessment processes
  • possess effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Previous committee, governance or leadership experience is desirable but not essential.

Time Commitment

The Assessment Committee meets at least twice each year, with additional meetings scheduled as required. Meetings may be held in person or via videoconference.
