Supervisor to lead our workshop team at our Canning Vale facility. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive safety, quality, productivity and continuous improvement while mentoring a skilled fabrication workforce.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee daily fabrication and welding operations, coordinate workflow, support Leading Hands and tradespeople, and ensure projects are delivered
safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You’ll play a key role in workshop planning, quality assurance, team development and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop Leading Hands, Fabricators and Welders.
- Coordinate daily fabrication and welding activities to achieve production targets.
- Review fabrication drawings, work orders, schedules and workflow priorities.
- Ensure welding procedures (WPS), QA documentation, weld maps and NDT records are completed correctly.
- Monitor fabrication quality, dimensional accuracy and final inspections prior to dispatch.
- Coordinate labour, materials, equipment and maintenance requirements.
- Lead toolbox meetings, pre-starts and promote a strong safety-first culture.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication operations.
About You
- Trade qualified in Fabrication, Boilermaking, Welding or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven supervisory experience within a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel, plate work, welding and fabrication processes.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, WPS and QA procedures.
- Confident leader with excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Committed to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications & Tickets
- Trade Qualification or equivalent industry experience.
- CSWIP Welding Inspector Certification or equivalent
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- Current Forklift (LF) Licence.
- HRWL Dogging Licence.
- Overhead Crane experience.
- Welding Supervisor or Welding Inspector Certification.
