Aurora ARC Wind Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mechanical Fitter / Wind Technician to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the renewable energy sector, supporting the operation, maintenance and repair of wind turbines and associated infrastructure. This is a full-time position with a minimum of 38 hours per week and hiring over multiple sites across Australia.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Fitter , you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing wind turbines and associated equipment. You will undertake mechanical, hydraulic and maintenance activities while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret diagrams, drawings, specifications and plans to determine suitable materials and work sequences.
  • Inspect the exterior and structural integrity of wind turbine towers.
  • Climb wind turbine towers to inspect, maintain and repair equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on wind turbines.
  • Test and troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic components and systems.
  • Measure and mark materials for fabrication and installation activities.
  • Cut, grind and shape metal and other materials as required.
  • Replace worn, damaged or malfunctioning components.
  • Collect turbine data for testing, analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Service underground transmission systems, wind farm substations and fibre optic sensing and control systems.
  • Assist with the erection and installation of machinery and equipment on site.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, procedures and safety requirements.

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • An AQF Certificate III qualification (or equivalent) including at least two years of on-the-job training OR a minimum of three years of relevant industry experience that may substitute for formal qualifications.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in wind turbine maintenance, mechanical fitting or heavy industrial maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.
