About the Role 

Are you an experienced cultural heritage and/or native title professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building trusted relationships and helping major projects move forward responsibly? 

At Attexo, we work on some of Australia’s most significant renewable energy, infrastructure and development projects, and we are looking for a Principal Heritage Consultant to help lead and grow our cultural heritage and/or native title capability. 

This is a senior role with plenty of scope to shape what comes next. 

You’ll take a leading role in the delivery of energy and infrastructure projects, working closely with clients and Traditional Owners to navigate cultural heritage requirements and achieve practical, respectful and high-quality outcomes. You’ll provide technical leadership across projects, lead and support field programs, manage heritage assessments and agreements, and mentor others within the team. 

The role goes beyond technical delivery. We’re looking for someone who enjoys building client relationships, identifying opportunities, contributing to bids and proposals, and helping shape how our service continues to grow. At Principal level, you’ll have the opportunity to influence technical standards, client relationships and the future direction of the service line.  

And if people leadership is something you’re interested in, there is also an opportunity for this role to develop into a Team Leader position. Equally, if your passion is technical leadership and project delivery, there is scope to build your career in that direction. 

What you’ll bring 

Ideally, you’ll have: 

• Significant experience in cultural heritage consulting, advisory or management roles, with experience across major infrastructure, energy, resources or development projects highly regarded. 
• Strong knowledge of Queensland cultural heritage legislation and regulatory requirements, particularly the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003, with experience in other Australian jurisdictions viewed favourably. 
• Demonstrated experience engaging and building trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Parties, clients and other project stakeholders. 
• Experience planning and delivering cultural heritage field surveys, assessments and associated reporting. 
• Experience developing, negotiating and implementing Cultural Heritage Management Plans, agreements and other heritage management frameworks. 
• Strong project management capability, including managing scope, budgets, resources, risk and client expectations. 
• The ability to provide high-quality technical advice, review technical outputs and mentor less experienced team members. 
• Commercial awareness, with experience preparing proposals, contributing to tenders and developing client relationships. 
• A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in archaeology, cultural heritage, or a related discipline. 

The breadth of experience we are looking for is informed by the capability required across complex energy and infrastructure projects, including Traditional Owner engagement, agreement development, field assessment, legislative advice, risk management and delivery across major infrastructure and renewable projects.
