About the Role:

We are continually looking for enthusiastic and talented people to join our team.

Our Melbourne office is currently seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer on a permanent full-time basis.

This position offers the opportunity to be developed by our Slurry and Mechanical Engineering team, and work on a variety of projects.

Key responsibilities and activities include:

• Mechanical and Piping Design: Undertake equipment sizing and selection, pipe and valve selection, materials selection and design calculations.
• Drawing Development: Prepare PFDs and P&IDs and provide engineering inputs and technical support for drawings and 3D models.
• Process Data Analysis: Analyse, validate and interpret process data to establish the design basis, identify data gaps and support design calculations.
• Testwork Interpretation: Review laboratory test work results to establish design parameters, assess material behaviour and support process and hydraulic design.
• Hydraulic Design: Perform hydraulic design of slurry and water pipelines, including pipe sizing, pressure-loss calculations, pump selection and transient assessment.
• Safety and Risk: Identify and mitigate design risks through Safety in Design and HAZOP workshops, in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.
• Procurement Support: Prepare equipment datasheets, specifications, equipment lists, material take-offs, quantity estimates and other technical procurement inputs.
• Cost Estimating: Prepare project CAPEX and OPEX estimates using material take-offs, quantity estimates, vendor quotations and benchmark rates.
• Construction and Commissioning Support: Respond to site queries, review vendor documentation and resolve technical issues during construction and commissioning.
• Project and Task Management: Lead small, non-complex projects or major deliverable tasks and coordinate process, mechanical, hydraulic, civil, structural and EIC inputs.
• Proposal Development: Define scope, deliverables, assumptions and exclusions, and develop task breakdowns for estimating resources, hours and costs.
• Work Package Delivery: Plan and deliver assigned work packages to the agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements, taking ownership and escalating issues early.
• Compliance and Quality: Deliver safe, compliant and high-quality engineering by applying relevant legislation, codes, standards and procedures and integrating HSE and well-being considerations.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience requirements include:

• A recognised Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher4–6 years’ relevant experience.
• Relevant professional engineering experience in mining, minerals processing, oil & gas, heavy industry, or water industries.
• Relevant experience in tailings and process plant design, including water and slurry pipeline systems, hydraulic transport, pump and pipe sizing, solid–liquid separation systems (e.g. thickeners and clarifiers) will be highly regarded.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams in consultancy environments.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks and deliverables within agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements.
• Eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in relevant Australian jurisdictions.
• ·Sound knowledge of mechanical and piping design, hydraulic calculations, process equipment sizing and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with applicable Australian and international design codes and standards.
• Ability to identify technical risks, resolve engineering issues and provide practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
