ASQ is seeking an experienced Truck Driver – Heavy Transport to join our team based in Newbridge. About the role
The Truck Driver – Heavy Transport is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of products to customers, maintaining trucks and equipment and where assessed as competent may undertake additional transport duties including self-loading, load restraint and specialised transport tasks.
This role operates within a competency-based framework supporting employee development, training and progression. Advancement is based on demonstrated skills, experience, safe work practices and successful completion of internal assessments.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring compliance with ASQ policies, procedures and the WHSE Management System.
- Adhering to NHVR, NHVAS, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management requirements and applicable road laws.
- Delivering products safely, efficiently and on time while providing excellent customer service.
- Following fatigue management plans and maintaining accurate work and rest records.
- Ensuring loads are correctly secured and transported in accordance with legislation.
- Completing required documentation, including running sheets and delivery records.
- Maintaining the presentation, cleanliness and condition of trucks and equipment.
- Conducting daily pre-start inspections and basic maintenance activities.
- Reporting defects, incidents and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Assisting with yard duties and truck maintenance as required.
- Working closely with the Transport Manager, Weighbridge Operator and operations team to achieve operational objectives.
The successful candidate will have:
- Heavy Combination (HC) Licence (mandatory).
- Construction Induction Card (mandatory).
- Experience driving truck and dog combinations and/or semi tippers.
- Experience in tipping and spreading.
- Sound knowledge of Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation.
- Experience using GPS, UHF and smartphone technology.
- Sound literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Ability to work weekends and public holidays as required.
- Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
The following will be highly regarded:
- Transport and Logistics training.
- Front End Loader ticket.
- First Aid Level 2 certification.
- Experience in self-loading using an excavator and/or wheel loader.
- Experience undertaking load restraint duties.
If successful, as part of the pre-employment checks, you will be required to provide a current Driving History Report from VicRoads.
