Description

Build capability. Shape careers. Leave a legacy.

Every great career has a turning point.

  • A leader who backed someone before they backed themselves
  • A mentor who shared their knowledge
  • A coach who helped someone tackle something they’d never done before. At Ascot Group, we believe those moments shouldn’t happen by chance.

As our business continues to grow across Australia, we’re investing in the capability of our people through our commitment to developing exceptional leaders, technical experts, project teams and trades who are ready to build what’s next.

We’re looking for a Learning & Capability Lead who wants to create those moments every day.

This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your time sitting behind a desk building PowerPoint presentations or writing learning frameworks that never see the light of day.

You’ll be out in the business.

On project sites. Alongside Project Managers. With Site Supervisors. Supporting our Contract Administrators. Working with apprentices, graduates and senior leaders.

You’ll understand how the work gets done, identify where capability can be strengthened and build practical learning experiences that make a real difference to performance.

If you love partnering with operational leaders, influencing culture and seeing people grow because of something you’ve built, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the ongoing growth of our people within our business building practical capability that supports both today’s workforce and tomorrow’s leaders.

Your work will include:

  • Designing and delivering leadership, technical and career development programs.
  • Building learning pathways for Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Contract Administrators, trades and operational teams.
  • Developing graduate, cadet, succession and high-potential talent programs.
  • Facilitating workshops, coaching leaders and embedding learning into everyday work.
  • Creating communities of practice that encourage knowledge sharing across the business..

About you

You enjoy working with operational teams, asking questions, understanding challenges and building practical solutions that people actually use.

You’ll probably bring experience in learning and capability, organisational development or leadership development within industries such as construction, engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics or another operational environment.

You might already be leading capability programs or perhaps you’re ready to step into a role where you can shape an organisation’s future.

Most importantly, you’re someone who:

  • Builds trusted relationships across every level of a business.
  • Balances strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
  • Loves coaching and developing others.
  • Thinks commercially and solves business problems.
  • Is curious, practical and always looking for better ways to build capability.
  • Enjoys spending time where the work happens—not just where the meetings happen.

This is your opportunity to shape how people learn, grow and build their careers over the coming years.

It’ll be measured by

  • The confidence of a first-time leader.
