Description

Junior Design Documenter | Full Time

Are you early in your documentation career and eager to learn from experienced mentors? Do you have a genuine interest in the detail, accuracy and buildability behind great technical documentation?

Are you looking for a role where you can build real skills across multiple live projects, with the support to grow quickly?

We might be a great fit for each other.

Open to candidates working from our Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne office, we’re looking for someone who shares our values of teamwork, accountability and positivity.

You’ll bring a relevant degree, some Revit exposure and a sharp eye for detail. We’ll bring a 9-day fortnight, flexibility in every way, supportive leaders and a genuinely great culture.

About Amicus

Amicus is an award-winning employer with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Established in 2005, we began with a focus on design and fit out for the Office, Laboratory, Education and Hospitality sectors.

Today, our offering spans workplace design and construction, alongside expertise in strategy, culture, leadership, technology and finance.

We look for people who combine strong technical capability with curiosity, humility and a desire to keep improving – both individually and collectively.

Your wellbeing matters to us. We foster a positive, supportive culture and champion healthy work-life balance. Our activity-based workspace and hybrid working model gives you flexibility and autonomy.

About the role

  • This role sits within the Design team, reporting to the BIM Manager
  • You’ll work under the close guidance of a Senior Documenter / BIM Manager, developing your documentation skills with hands-on mentorship at every stage
  • You’ll be involved across multiple workplace projects – from project setup in Revit, through construction pack creation, to finalising As-Builts

What you’ll be doing

  • Prepare base building drawings and support 3D, with guidance from the BIM Manager and Design Excellence Coordinator
  • Build your Revit skills
  • Learn and apply the Amicus documentation playbook, working toward creating accurate, standard-aligned document sets independently
  • Create As-Built drawing sets at project completion, under the guidance of your project design lead / senior designer
  • Develop your understanding of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards (including AS1428), raising compliance questions with your team as you learn
  • Communicate progress clearly and work closely with the Design Excellence Coordinator on resourcing and project scheduling
  • Build your construction knowledge by collaborating with your project design lead / senior designer on site conditions, detail resolution and buildability
  • Actively seek QA checks and feedback to continuously improve your documentation skills

What will make you ideal for the role

  • 0–2 years’ documentation experience (graduates and early-career candidates welcome)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Basic Revit experience
  • A genuine interest in the National Construction Code and Australian Standards (no need to be an expert yet)
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire to build technical accuracy over time

Why you might love working with us

  • 9-day fortnight
  • Hybrid working – 2 days in the office, the rest from anywhere
  • We’re goals-driven, not hours-driven. Flexibility is real, not just talked about
  • Genuine mentorship and structured development. We invest in growing junior talent, not just hiring experience
  • Stability and care. We’ve been investing in our people since 2005

What might not work for you

  • You’re looking for a fully independent role with minimal day-to-day guidance
  • You prefer not to receive regular, constructive feedback – we believe development comes from kind, honest input
  • You’re not interested in building broad documentation skills across varied project types
  • You’re looking for a narrowly scoped role rather than one with room to grow
