Do you love the challenge of keeping a project both contractually watertight and financially on track?
Are you the kind of person who can review a subcontract clause in the morning and reconcile a project’s WIP position in the afternoon, without missing a beat?
If that sounds like you, Amicus could be your next great move.
About Amicus
Amicus is an award-winning employer with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Established in 2005, we began with a focus on design and fitout for the Office, Laboratory, Education and Hospitality sectors.
Today, our offering spans workplace design and construction, alongside
expertise in strategy, culture, leadership, technology and finance. We look for people who combine strong technical capability with curiosity, creativity and a desire to keep improving, both individually and collectively.
About the Role:
Most people in construction are either “contracts people” or “finance people.” We’re after someone who genuinely enjoys both sides of the ledger. You’ll administer subcontracts, claims, variations and procurement across a portfolio of office fit-out projects, while owning the financial detail that keeps those same projects on track.
You’ll bring together contract administration and project accounting in a single role. You’ll partner closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients, so as much as this is a
numbers-and-contracts role, it’s a relationships one too.
What you’ll be doing:
- Administering subcontracts and progress claims across a portfolio of office fit-out projects,
from award through to close-out
- Owning the financial health of your projects – WIP, revenue recognition, cashflow forecasting and budget tracking
- Reviewing and processing variations, claims and extensions of time (EOT), keeping
everything aligned to contract
- Preparing progress claims, subcontractor invoices and project financial reports for
internal and client stakeholders
- Supporting cost estimating and budget creation on new projects
- Keeping project documentation, records and reporting audit-ready, so nothing falls
through the cracks at handover
- Building strong working relationships with project managers, site teams, subcontractors
and clients
What you’ll bring:
- Certificate or diploma in relevant field, however you do not need to be a qualified
CA/CPA/accountant
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience across contracts administration and/or project accounting,
ideally within construction or fit-out
- Knowledge administering standard construction contracts (AS4901, AS4902, AS4903, AS4000
or similar)
- Solid understanding of project financials – WIP, budgets, progress claims and
cashflow – and the systems that support them
- Sharp attention to detail, clear communication, and a bias toward ownership over
waiting to be asked
What might not work for you:
- You want a role that’s purely desk-based finance with no site or project context
- You’d rather specialise deeply in one lane than flex between contracts, cost and commercial
reporting
- You’re not comfortable with the pace and occasional ambiguity of live construction
projects
What You’ll Find at Amicus
- Hybrid working arrangements and a genuinely flexible, high-trust environment
- An activity-based workspace designed around the way people actually work
- Tailored development and training opportunities
- A team culture built on our TAP values – Teamwork, Accountability and Positivity –
that shows up in how we support each other and show up for clients
