Description

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on, operational COO role for an executive who is equally comfortable setting direction and getting into the detail required to make it happen. You will lead the organisational capability, people practices, governance, risk disciplines, health and safety systems, quality standards and cross-functional operating practices that underpin Alliance SI’s performance.

You will work closely with the CEO, Board, Leadership Team and functional leaders, staying close to operational priorities, removing blockers, strengthening accountability and ensuring agreed actions are followed through. You will translate strategy into practical systems, clear ownership and disciplined day-to-day execution across a complex, multi-site and project-based environment.

This is a role for an executive who can move comfortably between the boardroom and the operational detail – setting direction, challenging constructively, removing blockers and making sure actions land.

What You’ll Own

  • Translate strategy into practical organisation-wide priorities, clear owners, KPIs and action plans – and stay close enough to ensure delivery.
  • Provide executive leadership to People & Culture, including workforce strategy, organisation design, succession, talent, leadership capability, performance and employee relations.
  • Lead HSE, organisation-wide risk, compliance, internal audit and Quality, working with functional leaders to ensure frameworks, controls and systems work in practice.
  • Stay close to operational performance, incidents, audit findings, recurring issues and project support; remove blockers and drive corrective actions through to closure.
  • Strengthen cross-functional handovers, issue resolution, process discipline and operating rhythms to improve safety, efficiency, consistency and customer outcomes.
  • Partner with the CEO and Leadership Team as a trusted adviser, while providing clear and balanced reporting to the Board on performance, risk, people and organisational capability.

What Success Looks Like

  • Strategy is converted into clear priorities, accountable owners and measurable actions that are delivered and embedded across the business.
  • People & Culture, HSE, Risk & Audit and Quality are practical, responsive and trusted functions that enable delivery while providing appropriate challenge and oversight.
  • Leaders are clear on expectations, supported to perform and held accountable for both outcomes and behaviours.
  • Risks, incidents, recurring issues and cross-functional bottlenecks are identified earlier, resolved faster and followed through with effective corrective action.
  • The CEO, Leadership Team and Board receive timely, decision-useful reporting, with clear visibility of performance, emerging risks and matters requiring action or escalation.

What you bring

  • Significant executive or senior leadership experience in a complex, multi-site or project-based organisation, with accountability across operations, governance, risk and corporate functions.
  • Demonstrated success in hands-on operational leadership, leading multidisciplinary teams and driving organisation-wide performance, culture and change.
  • Strong experience in governance, risk management, compliance, internal controls, policy development and executive or Board reporting.
  • Executive oversight of People & Culture, including workforce strategy, organisational development, employee relations, talent, performance and leadership capability.
  • Commercial acumen, sound judgement and the ability to balance strategic, operational, people, customer, risk and financial priorities – while remaining close to execution.
  • Highly developed communication, influencing, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent substantial experience.

Highly regarded: experience in electrical, telecommunications, construction, critical infrastructure or another regulated project-delivery environment; ISO-certified management systems; audit programs; Enterprise Agreements; and workforce transformation.

Why Alliance SI

  • A genuine hands-on COO mandate with direct CEO partnership and organisation-wide visibility. The scope to shape both the operating model and day-to-day execution as Alliance SI enters its next phase of growth.
  • A values-led environment grounded in Excellence, Passion, Service and Integrity, with a strong focus on dependable delivery and long-term client relationships.
