Due to growth in the business, we’re looking for an Accountant to join our Finance team at Wacol.

This is a great opportunity for a degree-qualified accounting professional who is looking to build their career beyond a narrow transactional role. You’ll gain hands-on exposure across month-end accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting and analysis, while developing a strong understanding of the broader Finance function and the commercial operations of a multi-site business.

If you’re currently studying towards your CA or CPA, or are ready to commence your professional qualification, this role offers the opportunity to continue developing your technical and commercial accounting capability while working closely with our CFO and experienced Finance team.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll work across a broad range of accounting and Finance activities, including:

• Assisting with month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals and supporting schedules
• Completing bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
• Assisting with monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Preparing financial information, schedules and analysis for the CFO
• Supporting audit, reporting and compliance activities
• Developing your knowledge across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll to provide effective backup when required
• Assisting with debtor reporting, reconciliations and credit control
• Supporting supplier reconciliations and AP processes
• Gaining exposure to payroll preparation, reconciliations and processes
• Supporting the adoption of automated Finance workflows and systems
• Identifying opportunities to improve Finance processes and controls.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business with an Accounting major, or an equivalent recognised qualification.

You’ll also be currently studying towards CA or CPA, or willing to commence and complete your CA/CPA qualification.

Ideally, you’ll bring some previous experience in an accounting or transactional Finance environment, but just as importantly, we’re looking for someone who is:

• Numerically strong with excellent attention to detail
• Confident using Excel
• Analytical, curious and willing to understand the “why” behind the numbers
• Organised and able to manage competing deadlines
• A strong communicator who can work with people across the business
• Proactive, adaptable and willing to learn
• Comfortable taking ownership while also being a genuine team player
• Professional and trusted when handling confidential information.
