Description

Role Purpose:

Reporting to the Vice President, Global Sales, the Business Development Manager is an individual contributor responsible for identifying, engaging, and converting new business opportunities to support Advatek’s revenue and customer acquisition goals. This role is also responsible for account management of existing customers and partners in their territory.

This role plays a critical part in expanding Advatek’s market presence by proactively prospecting leads, nurturing relationships, and closing deals across global markets. The BDS works autonomously within their territory within sales processes to drive results, while also contributing strategic insights into market trends, customer needs, and sales tactics. By collaborating with internal teams and providing high-quality sales execution, this role strengthens Advatek’s reputation and supports scalable, sustainable growth.  

In this role you will:

  • generate and qualify new business opportunities: Proactively source leads through outbound prospecting, networking, events, referrals, sales and marketing qualified leads. Qualify prospects based on customer fit, readiness, and opportunity size.
  • engage prospects and close sales: Conduct sales conversations, identify customer needs, align product benefits, manage objections, and guide buyers through the decision-making process. Demonstrate technical knowledge and solution value to secure long-term business. 
  • in partnership with sales management, develop and execute territory plans: Contribute to the development of regional or vertical market plans in alignment with companywide sales goals to meet objectives for lead generation, account penetration, and revenue growth.
  • provide account management to existing customers through good relationship building, communication and engagement. This includes dealers, partners, specifiers, and other existing customers.
  • maintain CRM data and reporting accuracy: Use HubSpot and other business systems to record all prospect and customer interactions, sales activities, opportunities, and conversion outcomes. Ensure data integrity to support team reporting and sales visibility.
  • collaborate with internal teams: Collaborate with Marketing to align messaging and support campaigns, and with Product Management to relay customer insights and market feedback. Participate in strategic initiatives and provide input on customer engagement tactics.
  • represent Advatek at industry events and client meetings: Attend local and international trade shows, exhibitions, and customer visits to generate leads, support brand visibility, and build new relationships in key regions.
  • contribute to sales process improvement: Identify and share improvements to outbound strategy, CRM workflows, lead qualification criteria, and handover to Customer Service and Operations teams post-sale.
  • track and achieve sales performance goals: Deliver on budgets and adhere to KPIs such as pipeline conversion rate, velocity and value. Actively manage your own sales performance with support from sales management.

You have:

  • relevant tertiary qualification such as a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • technical expertise and past work history in lighting, lighting controls, AVL, dynamic lighting and/or addressable LED lighting
  • 5-10 years commercial experience (sales) in entertainment and/or architectural lighting 
  • professional experience working with technical products. 
  • experience in customer facing sales functions.
  • experience with CRM and other business systems such as HubSpot.

  • aligned with our team values and be able to work autonomously. You have proven yourself across multi-dimensional businesses and can manage a range of stakeholders and enjoy the thoroughness of reporting your wins and persisting through challenges. 
  • flexible and can travel locally and internationally.
