Description

The Opportunity

Are you the writer who can sit down with a customer, find the thread in what they tell you, and file clean copy against a deadline? Do you care as much about how a story is edited as how it is written? We’re looking for an Editor and Writer, Customer Stories to own our customer story programme end to end, sourcing the stories worth telling, writing them up, and shepherding each one through to publication.

This is a part-time role of up to 19 hours per week, with flexible days and times by agreement, based at our Richmond office. It’s a story role, not an ad copy or campaigns role, and you’ll own it.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of customer stories worth telling, working with sales, channel and customer success to surface the accounts and outcomes behind them
  • Interview partners and their end customers, drawing out the specific detail, numbers and quotes that make a story credible rather than generic
  • Write customer stories, case studies and testimonials that are accurate, readable and hold up to scrutiny from the people they’re about
  • Edit and sharpen copy produced elsewhere in the business, holding a consistent standard of clarity, structure and tone across everything customer-facing
  • Manage the review and approval process with customers and partners, so nothing is published without consent
  • Adapt each story into the formats the business needs, from long-form case studies to quote banks and web and social copy
  • Own the editorial standards for customer content, and work closely with marketing, sales, product and customer success to keep the story pipeline full and current
  • Track story output and usage, including which stories sales and partners actually reach for, and use that to prioritise the pipeline.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as a writer or editor, whether in journalism, publishing, agency or in-house content
  • Demonstrated ability to interview people and turn a conversation into a clear, structured piece of writing
  • Experience writing customer stories, case studies, features or profiles, ideally in a B2B or technology setting
  • A portfolio of published work you can talk through
  • Editing experience, including improving other people’s copy without flattening their voice
  • Comfortable working with technical subject matter and asking the questions needed to understand it
  • Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently, set your own priorities and deliver to deadline within condensed hours
