About the Role

We’re looking for a detail-driven Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Melbourne, reporting to the Financial Manager. You’ll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely financial and management reporting while supporting month-end processes, audits, budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement across the finance function.

This is a great opportunity for a CA/CPA qualified (or working towards) accountant looking to build their career in a fast-growing telco and cyber security group.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End

  • Support the month-end close process and prepare monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, cashflow, and management reports
  • Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset, and depreciation schedules
  • Maintain the general ledger and complete balance sheet, bank, and inter-company reconciliations
  • Analyse financial results and investigate variances

Statutory Reporting & Audit

  • Assist with half-year and year-end statutory accounts, including notes and disclosures
  • Prepare audit documentation and respond to auditor queries
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and reporting obligations

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare monthly BAS and annual FBT returns
  • Assist with annual income tax return preparation
  • Prepare quarterly ABS surveys and other compliance reporting requirements

Budgeting & Stakeholder Support

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Support finance team members and internal stakeholders with financial information and reporting
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and finance efficiencies

About You

Essential

  • CA/CPA qualified or working towards qualification
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience
  • Experience with month-end processes, reconciliations, and statutory reporting
  • High proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
  • Strong time management, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  • Well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Exposure to audit and tax compliance requirements
  • Experience working with ERP/accounting systems in a corporate environment
